 Festival of Nations

A true family event, the Festival of Nations provided a dynamic abundence of fanfare for all. My children, pictured in many of the coverage photos, were captivated by the ethnic diversity showcased on what turned out to be a bright and beautiful day. During his opening announcements, Mayor Bernie Streeter stated his hopes to make the Festival of Nations an annual event. Our first Mayor, Josephus Baldwin was also in attendence. His presence has been seen at many other sesquicentennial events.

Many enjoyed this end of summer treat. Food was sampled, games were played, and a very educational passport card was given to children where they could visit a country and get a stamp. Many cultures gave thier first impressions to their growing young minds. As a special reward to making stops for stamps, a free donut was awarded to each child at one of many Dunkin Donuts locations.

The Festival of Nations certainly should be prized as one of Nashua's greatest efforts to promote ethnic integration and diversity in our great city. Yea Nashua!
